Wiegand wins hot boys run at Keokuk

KEOKUK – Hunter Weigand won the boys Keokuk Invitational on a hot, hot Thursday afternoon for the Fort Madison Bloodhounds. The Central Lee girls took the title in the girls varsity run.
The Hounds finished third behind West Burlington/Notre Dame and Central Lee. The Hawks were second with 66 points. Fort Madison was just one spot off with a 67. The Nikes won with a 49 claiming three of the top 10 spots.
Central Lee was led by Drake Newton with a 17:46.0. Wiegand’s 17:14.3 was the fast time as all the runners worked under the heat dome that is enveloping the Midwest right now.
Fort Madison’s Colton Tripp was 11th overall with a 18:53.5 and teammate Oliver Wiese was was right behind in 12th at 18:55.5. Central Lee’s Caedon Newton and Austin Fogarty were the next two in at 18:58.6 and 19:08.7, respectively. Caden Crozier finished 16th for the Hawks at 19:12.4 and Bloodhound Jacob Walker was 17th at 19:14.6. Central Lee’s final scoring runner was Orion St. Clair at 20th with a 19:30.0. Fort Madison final scoring runner was Zack Hermes who finished 26th at 19:59.4.
Holy Trinity Catholic finished eighth with 227 led by Tanner Williams who finished 27th at 20:43.0. Brayden Williams (42), Elijah Fuerman (51), Liam Drollinger (52) and Liam Huffman (55) were the other scoring runners.
In the girls run, Central Lee had 51 points and was paced by Aubree Bunnell’s fourth place finish at 21:39.5. Addalie Daly was also in the top 10 at 9th with a 23:01.7.
Savannah Overton and Adella Adkins were 11th and 12th with both getting marked at 23.14.3. The girls other scoring runner was McKenna Fransk 23:51.9.
For Fort Madison (62 points), Jordyn Marshall set the pace with a 22:14.8 good for 5th place. Eloise Lamb was in the top 10 at 10th at 23:03.9. Katelyn Marshall and Addison Pezley were 13th and 14th overall at 23:37.6 and 23.38.9. Fort Madison’s other scoring runner was Ellie Hellman (18th) at 25:18.9.
Keokuk finished 5th with 131 points led by Kali Ames 17th place finish. Keokuk’s boys also finished 5th with 124 points led by Roland Zetterlund’s 8th place finish.
