DANVILLE - The Fort Madison Bloodhounds showed some teeth Tuesday night downing Class 1A No.9 ranked Danville 68-29 on the road.

The win is the second in three days for the Hounds, who improve to 5-2, and head coach Ryan Wilson said Tuesday's effort was one of the best to date on the young season.

The Hounds played a zone defense that held Southeast Iowa Superconference scoring leader Kaleb Haeffner to just four points on the night. Haeffner was averaging just over 19 points per game prior to Tuesday night.

"We just played a really good zone defense and every time he caught we had a guy or two there and were able to throw him off his game," Wilson said. "We just had a great night and really played our butts off."

Three players led the Hounds in scoring in what was one of the most balanced offensive outputs of the season for Hounds.

Senior CJ Richardson and Junior Kaleb Cresswell led the Hounds with 15 each. Junior Treavor James-Kokjohn continued to contribute inside with 13 points and sophomore Logan Rashid added 9 for the Hounds.

"Logan had his best game of the season tonight. We played well-balanced great team basketball," Wilson said.

Fort Madison led the entire game pushing leads of 18-10 in the first quarter and 35-14 at half outscoring the Bears 17-6 in the second stanza. Richardson and Cresswell each fired in two 3-pointers in the first half and senior Austin Rose and James-Kokjohn each added two buckets to pace the Hounds in the first quarter. The Hounds outscored the hosts 15-7 in the third period and 16-4 in the last period.

"We played very unselfish ball. We moved the ball as well as I've ever seen, " Wilson said. "We had twelve 3s as a team and we were passing up good shots to get great shots."

"A big team effort. It was something we needed going into Friday at Mt. Pleasant. Hopefully we can play with same intensity because that is a well-disciplined, well-coached team. That core has been playing together for 3 years. They have a 6'8" kid that transferred in. It's gonna be a challenge."

The Friday game at Mt. Pleasant starts with junior varsity action at 4:45 before the varsity girls and then boys.
