FORT MADISON – Fort Madison Community Hospital recognized Loretta Short as their November Employee of the Month. Short works as a Pharmacy Technician in the FMCH Pharmacy Department. She has been with FMCH for over twenty years. Loretta was recognized with this nomination:
This employee has been here for 20 years, accomplishing many great things during their time at FMCH. We call her the mother of the department as she takes care of us so well, keeping morale high. She has always been the volunteer that has been there for everything. She has worked with quality for many years, keeping track of safety and quality initiatives, always looking out for the patient. She has done an outstanding job taking on additional responsibilities, working with other departments to ensure our patients have what they need when they need it. This employee is dependable and willing to sacrifice her time to better FMCH. She has stayed overnight numerous times when big snow storms are anticipated, and has rarely taken a sick day in the 20 years she has been here. This employee truly is the perfect example of what an employee of FMCH should give. Her sacrifice and love for FMCH and the FMCH family should not go unrecognized.
Short expressed this about working at FMCH, “When I leave my home to come to work I know that I will be spending my day with my Work Family! That is priceless! We have the same values and the same goals. This has been a major blessing in my life!” Asked who has made a difference in her career at FMCH, she responded, “Although I have learned from all of the wonderful employees who have served in the Pharmacy at FMCH, my main mentor has always been Tammy Kent. For 20 years I have tried to be as intelligent, thorough, knowledgeable and efficient as she is. I have never come close, but I am a much better tech for having tried. She is amazing!!”
Short spends her free time releasing her creative side, baking, sewing and oil painting.
The Employee of the Month is an initiative developed by the Reward & Recognition team. Each month a FMCH employee is honored for going above and beyond for the good of the patient, their co-workers and the organization.
