FORT MADISON - Throughout 2017, Cryotech has been celebrating a quarter century in business with ‘Quarters of Giving’ campaign. Each quarter has been focused on a different theme - Community, Monetary, Environment, and People. April marked the beginning of Cryotech’s Environmental quarter.

During this time, Cryotech employees focused on the environment by participating in a variety of activities, which included: community clean-up efforts, tree planting, and the adoption of a river mile. All of these efforts culminated in a spring clean-up day at Cryotech in June.

Most notable among the environmental endeavors was the adoption of a river mile along the mighty Mississippi. In April of this year, Cryotech partnered with the environmental organization, Living Lands & Waters, and adopted river mile 378-379 on the Iowa side of the Mississippi.

“Living Lands & Waters has been cleaning up America’s rivers for the past 19 years,” said Dan Breidenstein of Living Lands & Waters. “We have worked on 24 rivers in 21 states and with the help of over 98,000 volunteers we’ve removed 9.4 million pounds of garbage. Getting our waterways clean and keeping them clean are two different things. This is where we really appreciate individuals and groups, like Cryotech, stepping up to participate in our Adopt-A-River Mile program.”

During the spring clean-up day, Cryotech employees collected over 1,000 pounds of trash from the banks of its adopted river mile.

“We are celebrating our 25th year with the Quarters of Giving campaign. Since environmental stewardship is a core Cryotech value, there was no question that one of the four quarters would be dedicated to the environment,” said Craig Starwalt, President & CEO of Cryotech Deicing Technology.

“The river clean-up collaboration with Living Lands & Waters is a great example of the difference we can make in keeping our local waterways clean.”
