Barbara J. Six, 83, of Nauvoo, Illinois passed away at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton, Illinois.
Born November 20, 1934 in Bentonsport, Iowa, she was the daughter of Calvin and June (Henry) Corns. On September 22, 1951, she married Albert Six in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1999.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Bill) Griffiths of Hamilton, Illinois and Sandy (David) Wagner of Burlington, Iowa; one son, John Six of Nauvoo, Illinois; four grandchildren, Kellie (Scott), Laura (Matt), Paul, and Dustin (Erin); seven great-grandchildren, Ian, Aubree, Dane, Alaina, Maci, William, and Benjamin; two brothers, Butch Corns of Fort Madison, Iowa and Charles (Nancy) Corns of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Mary Bergmeier of Nauvoo, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; one sister, Shirley Danley; and one brother, Hank Corns.
Barb was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Club in Nauvoo. She worked for Hotel Nauvoo. Barb enjoyed sewing, embroidering, making wedding cakes, and playing cards. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Family will meet with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Nauvoo with Father Thomas Szydlik as the celebrant.
Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Nauvoo.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
