Henry D. “Hank” Wilson, 78, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy, Illinois.
Born October 13, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Woodrow and Loretta (Tucker) Wilson. He married Rita Hoenig. They later divorced. He then married Joyce Hanne. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons: David (Susan) Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois and John Wilson of Fort Madison, Iowa; six grandchildren: Sabrina, Brett, Acacia, Ethan, Johnny, and Aubrey; one great grandson: Gannon; two sisters: Carol (Ed) Lange of Two Rivers, Wisconsin and Sandy (Rich) Hopper of Nauvoo, Illinois; two brothers: Joe (Vicky) Wilson of Dallas City, Illinois and Jim (Linda) Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois.; two brothers-in-law: Joe Meierotto of West Point, Iowa and Sam Nicol of Nauvoo, Illinois. Sister-in-law: Carole Wilson of Nauvoo, Illinois. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Joyce; three sisters: Bev Meierotto, Gina Nicol and Jeanie Fortado; three brothers: Thomas and Woodrow “Mick” Wilson and Jack Schuck.
Hank was a 1957 graduate of Nauvoo High School. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He was a journeyman brick layer, farmer and truck driver. Hank enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, going to Casey’s for coffee and visiting with his friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Nauvoo with Father Thomas Szydlik officiating.
Full military rites presented by the Nauvoo American Legion Post 711.
Memorials have been established in his memory for Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School or the Nauvoo Fire and Rescue.
