Keokuk man charged with theft, trafficking firearms


KEOKUK – The Keokuk Police Department reports the arrest of Elijah Joseph Burris, age 25, of Keokuk, Iowa. Burris is charged with the following:


Warrant for Trafficking Stolen Firearms, a Class D Felony.
Warrant for Theft 4th Degree, a Serious Misdemeanor.
The arrest of Burris stems from an investigation into the theft of a firearm from a Keokuk pawn shop. If convicted of all charges, Burris faces up to six years in a state correctional facility. This investigation remains active.

A charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
