LEE COUNTY - The Iowa Coronavirus website has reported a third death related to COVID-19 in Lee County, according to a release from the Lee County Health Department Friday.
"Lee County Health Department extends their deepest sympathy to this individual’s family, and would like to encourage the public to remain respectful to this family’s privacy during this difficult time," the release indicated.
Three new cases of COVID-19 were also reported today, two adults and one older adult. This makes 89 confirmed cases in Lee County to date with 53 reported cases as recovered.
LCHD encourages all community members and visitors to work together in reducing spread of this contagious virus by social distancing from others outside your own home, choosing to wear a face mask when in public, washing your hands often, cleaning all common touch surfaces frequently, and avoiding large gatherings of people of 10 or more when social distancing and increased hygiene measures cannot be ensured.
"Please stay home when ill or symptomatic of COVID-19.
Successful community mitigation efforts for reducing the spread of COVID-19 and illness is a responsibility we all share. Please choose to do your part in protecting yourself, family, friends, co-workers, and other members of the public," officials wrote.
