Burlington police release ID of body found March 7

Investigation continues into man reported missing in 2020

BURLINGTON – Burlington Police have released the name of a man whose body was discovered on March 7 in Burlington.
The Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner has been able to positively identify the human remains  as that of 54-year-old Burlington resident Troy Daugherty.
Daugherty was reported missing to Burlington police in July of 2020.
The cause and manner of death are still being investigated by police, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, and the medical examiners office.
Results of an autopsy and toxicology are pending and may take several weeks, according to information released Thursday afternoon.
Officials believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. No additional information will be released at this time, officials said.
