Letters to Santa
Area children are invited to drop letters to Santa Claus at the Fort Madison Chamber of Commerce’s new offices at 617 7th Street or the Enchanted Forest at 927 Avenue G now through Dec. 18. Each child will get a hand written letter back from Santa.
Enchanted Forest 2020
This year the annual Christmas Tree display will be at 927 Avenue G, behind Aldi. Businesses interested in having a tree in the enchanted forest are encouraged to email Savanna at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cost to be included is $25 and businesses provide their own tree and decorations. The forest is open until Dec. 19 on Thursday’s from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday’s from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Holiday Window Competition
Enter your business in the FM Partner’s Holiday Window Display competition. Decorate your window, send us a picture and get “likes” on Facebook. The business with the most hits wins. Deadline for photo submissions is Dec. 3 and photos will go live on Facebook with voting from Dec. 4-11th. Winners will be announced on Dec. 14.
Bell Ringers needed
Salvation Army bell ringers are needed for this holiday season. Contact the Salvation Army at 319-524-1144 to volunteer.
Starting on Dec. 3, attendees will be working on a month-long project from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Fort Madison Public Library.
Old Fort Players
The local players are producing some vintage comedy recordings that wll be available through Facebook starting Nov. 21st. Simply click here to make a donation and trigger your viewing of three skits. Donations of $6 or more will receive a seven-day VIP link to the special Facebook page where you can watch the skits as often as you like.
Potowonok Circle fundraiser
The Home of the Holiday’s Fundraiser will take place Dec. 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge, 719 Avenue H. This year’s meal will feature a $10 tenderloin or cheeseburger basket with fries and a cookie. There will also be a raffle. $5 tickets could win one of three “Home for the Holidays” prize packs including a 50″ TV, weighted blankets, family games and movies, wine and more. West Point Wine & Beer Walk
The West Point Wine & Beer Walk will take place on Dec. 4, 2020 on the square from 5 to 8 p.m.
GBP’s GBPetey back for Christmas
BURLINGTON, IOWA– Greater Burlington’s Elf on the Shelf #GBPetey is back in Greater Burlington to help remind people to shop local this holiday season. He will be leaving clues to his location on the Greater Burlington Partnership’s Facebook, Twitter & Instagram pages. Members of the public are invited play along and guess #GBPetey’s location for a chance to win a prize. One winner will be chosen each week until #GBPetey returns to the North Pole on December 18.
