FORT MADISON - Molly Knipe got an 8-6 win over Kayla Norton at No. 1 singles Thursday night for Fort Madison's only win as the Grayhounds rolled 8-1 in Southeast Conference girls tennis action.
Burlington would take all seven of the remaining matches including sweeping the doubles matches.
Emily Woodsmall downed Rachel Hellman at No. 2 singles 8-3 and Emily Mosley beat Kayla Kruse 8-2 at No. 3.
Grace Hecox shut out Elizabeth Stuekerjuergen 8-0 at No. 4 singles. Macy McGinity downed Sky Lawson at No. 5, 8-3 and Jacqui Workman beat Fort Madison's Lauren Otte 8-3 at No. 6.
In doubles play, Norton and Woodsmall beat Knipe and Hellman 8-4. Mosley and McGinity won 8-3 over Kruse and Stuekerjuergen at No. 2 doubles and Hecox and Workman beat Otte and Lawson at No. 3 doubles 8-6.
“We struggled tonight in singles. Really made a stronger fight when it came to doubles, saw a lot of good things, but still have some work to do," said head coach Jeremy Swink.
