Hannum leads Hounds to 3rd at Brookhart-Crew


FAIRFIELD – Fort Madison’s Garrett Hannum took first place in the 400 hurdles breaking the one-minute barrier with a 59.42 to highlight the Bloodhounds 3rd place finish at the Brookhart-Crew 2021 at Fairfield High School Monday night.

Hannum was also pulled the final leg in the 4×200 and the second leg of the 4×400 meter relays that were also won by Fort Madison. The 4×200 team of Brock Califf, McGowan, Andrew Schaefer, Hannum won with a time of 1:35.07, while the 4×400 team of Califf, Hannum, Schaefer, and Landes Williams crossed first at 3:40.83.

Mikey DiPrima won the long jump with a leap of 19-8″ anchoring the Bloodhounds 77 total team points, just one one point from Washington who took second. Mt. Pleasant won the meet with 117 points.

Jakob McGowan took 2nd in the 100 meter dash getting edged by Fairfield’s Aiden Lyons by .15 seconds. The Bloodhounds Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Macaden Rhoer, Henry Wiseman, Kane Williams and Hayden Segoviano took 2nd place at 1:11.15.

DiPrima captured 3rd in the 200 meter dash and Gavin Wiseman won the bronze in the 400 meter dash. Fort Madison got 3rd place finishes in the 4×800 and Sprint Medley relays, as well as a 3rd from DiPrima in the high jump with a mark of 5-4″

In the girls affair, Aija Jenkins had the only top finish for the Lady Hounds with a 4-10″ high jump. Taylor Johnson took 2nd in the 400 at 1:07.74, and 5th in the 200 at 28.85. Paetyn Wiegand had a 4th place in the 1500 at 5:50.19.

The Lady Hounds got fourth place finishes in the Sprint Medley, Distance Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relay to pile up 43 points, good enough for sixth place, just one point off of Centerville’s 44.
