Barbara E. Peitz, 91, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 6:32 PM at The Kensington.

She was born on November 26, 1930 in Gibbs, MO to Edward and Edna Schwaderer McVay.  On May 6, 1951 she married Charles J. Peitz in West Point and he passed away on September 28, 2002.  Barb worked in food service at the Ft. Madison Junior High School and retired after twenty three years of service.  She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, CWF, and was also a Deaconess of the Church and an office angel of the church.  Barb enjoyed playing the slot machines and cards, cooking and traveling to many places with her good friend Betty Vincent.

Survivors include one son, John Peitz of Ft. Madison; one daughter, Teresa Peitz of Ft. Madison; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrew, Carrie, Jason & Jennifer; nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Ronald McVay and Virgil Shouse.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11 AM at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory Pastor Cheryl Simpson officiating. The family will meet with friends from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11.  Following the funeral, she will be cremated and the burial will be in Soldiers’ Circle, Oakland Cemetery on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10 AM.
