LEE COUNTY – A potentially hazardous winter storm is being projected for southeast Iowa, including Lee County, on Wednesday.
A winter storm is expected to impact the entire area Wednesday and Wednesday night. A winter storm watch has been issued for northeast Missouri, southeast Iowa, and west central Illinois. This will likely be expanded over much of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois later today. At this time, there is a 90% or higher chance for more than three inches of snow over much of the outlook area, with at least a 50% chance for amounts over six inches.
The light fluffy snow is expected to cause travel impacts to both the morning and evening commutes Wednesday.
Another storm system is forecast for Friday afternoon through Saturday, with additional accumulating snow.
This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central Illinois...northwest Illinois...west central Illinois...east central Iowa...northeast Iowa...southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.
The readership is encouraged to monitor this potentially dangerous winter weather and adjust plans accordingly to avoid hazardous situations.
The storm has already forced the cancellation of the Upper Mississippi and Mid-America Port Commission annual meeting in Burlington scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Additional cancellations and postponements can be expected.
