BURLINGTON. The Burlington Area United Way is excited to announce our partnership with Code Red for their Period Poverty Awareness campaign. The campaign will run from now through the end of June and aims to collect menstrual products for those in need in our community.
Period poverty is a real issue affecting many people who cannot afford to purchase the necessary menstrual products, leading to missed school, work, and other opportunities. The campaign seeks to address this issue by providing menstrual products to local agencies that can distribute them directly to those who need them.
There are several businesses who have signed on to accept donations on behalf of Code Red. They are: Romatherapy Massage, FF Massage, The Holistic Healing Center, Me Time Massage & Wellness, Burlington Area United Way, Shear Class, and The Mending Tree (located inside Yoga for You). We encourage anyone visiting these businesses to consider bringing a donation of pads, tampons, disks, cups, period panties, wipes, or other menstrual products and dropping them off with the business. There will also be a large collection site at this year's Burlington Pride in the Park event on Saturday June 24th!
Code Red will collect the donations and work with local agencies to distribute them to those in need. We believe that this campaign will make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors and help address period poverty in our community.
