DONNELLSON – Central Lee Superintendent Dr. Andy Crozier has been named the new Superintendent at Waukee Community School District.
Crozier confirmed his new position at Central Lee’s Tuesday morning  School Board meeting.
Final interviews and stakeholder meetings were held Monday in Waukee and that board was expected to make a decision before Thursday. They sent out a release confirming their selection of Crozier Tuesday morning.
“This will be different than Central Lee and I’m looking forward to the new challenge,” Crozier said this morning.
“I am deeply honored to be selected as the next superintendent of the Waukee Community School District. Waukee CSD has a well-earned reputation as a leader in innovation and student achievement, and I am eager to partner with our talented staff, dedicated families, and the entire community,” said Dr. Crozier.
“As we continue to navigate the exciting growth of our district, my focus will remain squarely on inspiring every learner to feel valued and prepared for the opportunities of tomorrow.”
Crozier said the Central Lee district should announce its intention to hire a search firm yet this week to find his replacement. His new position starts July 1.
Waukee Community School District issued a statement Tuesday morning on the district's website. The decision still requires a formal board vote and salary information wasn't available pending that action.
The decision comes after a thorough process, which involved a community-wide survey and finalist interviews with parents, community members, students, certified and classified staff, and administrators. The Board carefully considered feedback throughout the process to ensure the next leader reflects the values and vision of Waukee CSD.
“The Board has identified a leader we believe will serve Waukee CSD well,” said Armel Traore Dit Nignan, Waukee CSD School Board president. “Waukee CSD is an exceptional district with real complexity. We chose a leader who will bring curiosity and humility to the work of understanding everything that makes this community a destination for so many families.”
“We invite every teacher, principal, administrator, parent, employee, student, and community member to help welcome our next leader,” he added.
Dr. Crozier brings 15 years experience as a public school superintendent, including the past 10 years at Central Lee Community School District. He has a proven track record in championing a positive school culture, high academic achievement, and student leadership development.
During his time at Central Lee, Dr. Crozier:
• Spearheaded a successful bond referendum and implemented a master facility plan;
• Cultivated an organizational environment recognized as a Des Moines Register “Top Workplace” five times in the past six years;
• Led the district to “High Performing” status on the Iowa School Performance Profile and earned designation as an Apple Distinguished School District;
• Launched a comprehensive universal four-year-old preschool program
• Expanded the Leader in Me framework across the district
Dr. Crozier began his career as an elementary teacher and coach, later becoming activities director at Louisa-Muscatine School District. He went on to serve as Coordinator of Digital Learning for the Grant Wood AEA.
At age 28, Dr. Crozier was appointed superintendent and principal of the Andrew Community School District, becoming the youngest superintendent in Iowa at the time. He later served as a shared superintendent for Andrew and Easton Valley Schools before joining Central Lee Community Schools.
Additionally, Dr. Crozier has served on the Representative Council and as Executive Leaders Chairperson for School Administrators of Iowa (SAI), supporting statewide professional development and legislative advocacy. He is currently on the Iowa High School Athletic Association Board of Control, helping oversee governance and policy for Iowa’s athletic programs.
Dr. Crozier earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Iowa State University, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Viterbo University, and completed his doctoral program at Western Illinois University.
