FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison Junior/Senior High School will be hosting its second annual CTE open house on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. starting in the school’s MPR.
The Career & Technical Education Open House is an event to showcase the opportunities available to students through the CTE program at the Fort Madison Community School District.
Guests will have the opportunity to explore the district’s career pathways, meet instructors and students, learn about industry certifications and dual enrollment options, as well as tour our classrooms and labs.
“Our CTE programs play a vital role in preparing students for both college and career success,” said CTE Advisor Stacy Lumbeck.

Fort Madison Community School District offers CTE programs in Agriculture, Automotive, Construction, Health Science, Business, Family & Consumer Science, Welding, Career Connected Learning, and Junior High Career Exploration.
Lumbeck said the open house serves three purposes, the first of which is to increase awareness and highlight career pathways, industry certifications, concurrent enrollment opportunities, work-based learning and internships, and local workforce connections.
“We also want to strengthen postsecondary transitions by highlighting how pathways lead to employment, how our teachers connect to college or technical training, and what credentials students can earn in high school,” Lumbeck said.
The program also looks to build on community and employer partnerships by showcasing student success, reinforce workforce alignment, and build internship pipelines.
Lumbeck said the district believes that programs speak for themselves, but this is a community event and provides an opportunity for area families to see what is going on at Fort Madison Jr./Sr. high aside from the traditional educational models.
