James Earl Minter, 75, of Keokuk, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.
James was born on June 28, 1947, in Hamilton, Ohio. On December 2, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kimberly “Kim” Marie Grice in Margate, Florida. She survives.
James was an Airborne Ranger in the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. On February 23, 1966, he lost his leg to a machine gun, earning him a Purple Heart. James enjoyed spending his time outdoors, fishing, grilling, and working in his yard. He was a pet-lover and was known for his outgoing personality and friendly, caring demeanor.
James is survived by his wife Kim Minter and his son Dakota Minter, both of Keokuk.
James is preceded in death by his son James Minter, II.
A private burial with military honors will be held at Keokuk National Cemetery.
