LEE COUNTY - Both political groups in the county have set election watch parties for Tuesday night and the public has been invited to each of them.
The Lee County Republican Party will host a watch party beginning at 7 p.m. at the Charleston Board of Trade in Donnellson.
The event is open to the public and brings together volunteers, candidates, party faithful, and neighbors from across Lee County to mark the close of the 2026 election and watch returns roll in from local and statewide precincts.
Appetizers will be provided. A cash bar will be available. There is no cost to attend.
"The work of a campaign happens at kitchen tables, in meeting halls, and on front porches across this county," said James D. Creen, Chair of the Lee County Republicans.
"Election night is where we finally get to exhale together, thank the people who knocked on the doors and made the calls, and watch the results come in. Win or lose, this party belongs to the volunteers, and Tuesday is for them."
The Charleston Board of Trade is located just off the intersection of Highway 218 and 255th Street outside of Donnellson.
The Lee County Labor Chapter will sponsor an Election Watch carry-in dinner party beginning at 6 P.M. on election night at the Keokuk Labor Temple, 301 Blondeau Street. Chili soup will be provided plus carry in food and drinks. The public is invited.
The Matt Mohrfeld campaign will sponsor an election watch party at the Railyard Sports Bar at 1310 14th Street in Fort Madison beginning at 7:00 p.m. on election night. There will be heavy appetizers catered by Michael from Courtyard on Blondeau, compliments of the campaign, and a cash bar. Join us - win or lose, Matt wants to spend the evening with the people who have been part of this journey.
Polls are open around the county from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and results will be posted as they become available at the following link: https://www.leecounty.org/pview.aspx?id=20953&catid=25
