Labor auction, bake sale raises funds for FMHS chapter

Posted

FORT MADISON - Fort Madison’s FFA held its annual Labor Auction and dinner on Saturday at the Elks Lodge downtown.
Funds raised by this event will be used to help the FM FFA chapter participate in many activities throughout the year including state and national convention.
Pork for the dinner was donated by Lee County Pork Producers and prepared by Brian Steffensmeier. The rest of the meal was prepared by Mary Weisinger and  Lindsay Lampe, and served by FFA students.
After the free-will donation dinner was served to about 150 in attendance, Russell Lamp (of Merit Auction auctioned off items donated by local businesses and then students’ labor (4 hours each student), including FFA Advisor David Vance.
New this year, the FFA added bake sale items donated by chapter families, which was also based on donations.
