FORT MADISON – The Parish Partners of Fort Madison will present a Community Christmas Concert, taking place at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on December 8, 2024, at 2:30 PM, featuring favorite sacred and secular songs of the season.
All voice parts (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) are needed. Rehearsals will take place at First Christian Church on Sunday, November 17; Sunday, November 24; and Sunday, December 1, all from 2:30-3:30 PM. There will also be a Dress Rehearsal on Saturday, December 7 (the day before the concert) at First Christian Church from 10:00 AM until noon.
The concert is free and the entire community is encouraged to attend. Donations will be accepted for the Backpack Program, which helps feed hungry Headstart participants in our community. There will be a reception following the concert, to which everyone is invited.
The conductor for this year's concert is the Rev'd John Allen Bankson, pastor of Union Presbyterian Church. In addition to being a minister, Rev. Bankson is also a choral conductor and composer who served for the past seven years as the Director of Music Ministries at the
First Christian Church of Birmingham, Alabama, as Artistic Director of the Montevallo Community Chorale, and as an Adjunct Instructor in the music department at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
