FORT MADISON - Fort Madison State Farm agent Jess Sutcliffe is demonstrating what it means to be a Good Neighbor by stepping up to help a nonprofit. She presented nonprofit 2x4's For Hope – Lee County, with a check for $1,000.

“At State Farm, we are committed to helping build stronger communities,” says Jess. “As a Good Neighbor agent and member of this community, it's important to embrace the responsibility by being a part of a solution like this. Thank you 2x4’s For Hope in your commitment to helping our veterans!”

2x4’s For Hope builds tiny houses for veterans in need. They recently expanded their program to Lee County, Iowa, from Illinois, and a lot in Fort Madison has been acquired for their first build project. Construction is earmarked to begin May 20, 2023 on the first home.

Co-Directors of the 2x4’s For Hope project Lester Kistner and Stephanie Warner shared this is just the beginning. “Thank you, Jess and State Farm, for your support of our program! Every dollar donated goes toward the purchase of materials needed to get homes built for these important individuals who have given so much all ready.”

All of the labor will be done by volunteers most of whom are veterans themselves. Go to Home | 2x4's for Hope (2x4forhope.org) to learn more about the program.
