FM woman killed crossing roadway Friday

Fatal injuries sustained in pedestrian/truck accident on city's west side

FORT MADISON – A 70-year-old Fort Madison woman was killed Friday evening when she was struck by a vehicle on the city’s west side.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol’s office, Nancy Lynne Kuhljuergen, 70, of Fort Madison sustained fatal injuries after she was struck in the 5100 block of Avenue O.
Kuhljuergen apparently was heading north across the highway near Fort Colony Restaurant at 6:05 p.m. when she was struck attempting to cross the roadway.
She was allegedly hit by a 2009 Toyota Tacoma driven by Jeffrey Stephen Jordan, 70, of Argyle.
Fort Madison Police, Fort Madison Fire & Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Lee County EMS Ambulance responded to the scene.
Traffic was blocked off in the area while emergency crews responded to the accident.
