Keokuk installs new interim superintendent

Posted

KEOKUK - Following a lengthy search process, the Keokuk Board of Education is pleased to announce they have hired Mr. Todd Liechty as the interim superintendent for the 2026-2027 school year. Liechty fills a void created by the recent notice of retirement by KCSD Superintendent, Dr. Kathy Dinger.
Qualified applicants were considered that met or exceeded the standards set by the Iowa Department of Education and the qualifications established via the posted job description for the interim superintendent position. This included closely reviewed past training, overall experience, skill set, and demonstrated competence. After interviews with multiple candidates, the board chose Liechty through the lens of the school district's educational philosophy, financial situation, organizational structure, education programs and other relevant factors.

Per school board policy, the interim superintendent will serve as the chief executive officer of the board while they conduct the daily operations of the school district, and implement board policy. Liechty is set to transition to the role the week of Aug. 23.
