CARTHAGE - Two new faces are welcoming guests as they enter The Legacy Theater in Carthage.
Larissa McShane of Nauvoo has been hired as the executive director of the theater. Audrey Inman of Carthage is the new box office manager.
Working with the theater board, McShane will manage all parts of the theater’s work – performance recruitment, marketing, fundraising, and daily details. She began her job at the theater on May 22.
“As the theater enters its tenth year of bringing entertainment to the area, we are excited to have these two new members of the Legacy team to continue our mission,” said Legacy Theater Foundation board president, Doug Groth. “Larissa’s previous experiences will be an asset to her work at The Legacy Theater.”
Before coming to Nauvoo, McShane held several positions in the entertainment industry in California as theater manager, stage manager and production accountant, managing budgets, contracts and payroll.
She coordinated details for studio, theater and award events in Los Angeles, and was executive assistant to producers and directors.
As an independent contractor, McShane has done grant research and writing for several non-profit organizations on the west coast, and continues to do historical and genealogical research, writing, and preservation for private clients.
She is a board certified massage therapist, operating an independent business from 2011 to 2022, and contracting her therapy to agencies in the Carmel area.
Since her move to Nauvoo in 2022 she has worked in office management and patient assistance at Nauvoo Health and Chiropractic and at Memorial Medical Clinics in Carthage, Hamilton, & Nauvoo.
McShane has a bachelors degree in interdisciplinary studies, with majors in psychological research and family history research from Brigham Young University. She has studied genetic genealogy and cultural anthropology/psychology.
After building her career in the entertainment industry, she took a hiatus to be a military spouse and raise her children. She came to Nauvoo in 2022 to be near family.

“I was thrilled to find The Legacy Theater a few years ago,” said McShane. “I came and sang as part of the Chenille concert last summer.
“When this job came up I was very excited to throw my hat in the ring to continue the mission. I have had a lot of different experiences, but my first love is always entertainment. I think it is so important for the arts to be brought into a community. It can be very unifying and uplifting. I look forward to being part of that.”
As a retired registered nurse, Audrey Inman has performed many jobs serving people. She began as part time box office manager at The Legacy Theater in March, due to the illness of Bonnie Bentzinger.
“I am saddened after losing our long-term box office staple, Bonnie. She will be missed,” said Groth. “She treated the theater as her own and was always willing to talk to and help our patrons. Audrey is equally as friendly and helpful. She has a long list of experiences working with the public.”
“Even when I was young, I was interested in the medical field,” Inman said. “I have a tender heart. I just love interacting with people, old and young.
Inman worked for many years in health care as a nurse’s aide and LPN in Murray, Utah, where she cared for elderly and handicapped patients, in women services with post-op and pain management, and in the labor and delivery unit.
“After 30 years of being a nurse, I have learned you can be friends with about anybody, and appreciate people for their differences,” Inman said.
She loves to travel and has served on medical mission tours in Africa and the Phillipines. She has traveled to many places in the U.S., Europe and Japan, visiting family and friends.
“I love theater. I have gone to Broadway a lot,” said Inman. “What a great opportunity for this community to have the theater here that brings shows to a little town like this.”
Since coming to Hancock County, she was a customer service representative/cashier at Lowe’s in Quincy and a substitute teacher/paraprofessional at Nauvoo-Colusa Elementary/Junior High School.
