Man threatens first responders in river incident

Suspect arrested after trying to hit responders with vehicle

HANCOCK COUNTY - A man was arrested after a dangerous incident during a water rescue near Warsaw on Wednesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
According to a report from the Hancock Sheriff's Office, at approximately 8:30 p.m. fire and EMS personnel responded to a report of two people in the Mississippi River near Spring Island. During the response, Kevin C. Taylor made verbal threats towards emergency personnel and law enforcement. Afterwards, he drove a vehicle at high speed towards firefighters at the Warsaw boat harbor, and they had to move out of the way to avoid being struck.  He fled the area but was quickly arrested and held in Hancock County Jail. The person originally reported in the river was located alive and is expected to recover.
The incident remains under investigation.
