Man arrested in Macomb shooting incident

Six of ten injured by gunfire were WIU students

MACOMB, Ill. — A Macomb man has been charged in connection with a shooting near Western Illinois University’s campus that left one person dead and 10 others injured.
Donell D. Williams, 23, was arraigned on Monday on a charge of armed violence. Williams was in possession of a handgun and a felony amount of illegal drugs, which led to the charge. Additional charges may be filed, Macomb Police officials said on Monday.
Macomb police were called to a house in the 500 block of N. Johnson St., at 1:55 a.m. Saturday after a report of gunshots fired at a party at the home.
Jerman Beathea, 26, of Chicago was found dead at the scene.
Six WIU students were among the injured, who were transported to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. All of the injured are expected to recover.
Additional charges could be filed in connection with the incident. Macomb police officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
