Santa and Mrs. Claus made their annual stop at the Santa Fe Depot Complex last Saturday, greeting excited children and parents for one of Fort Madison’s newest holiday traditions. The doors even opened a few minutes early because families were already lined up and ready for the big event! Santa spent time with every child, gifting each one a jingle bell, while families enjoyed snacks, popcorn and hot chocolate before gathering to watch The Toddy Pop Company twist incredible balloon creations.
Squealing balloons and laughter carried throughout the CB&Q Depot as kids played in the Children’s Museum, where we heard many compliments from parents who can’t wait to return. By the end of the day, we welcomed 331 visitors, nine volunteers, Santa & Mrs. Claus, and one talented balloon artist. (I hope you read that in the tune of The Twelve Days Of Christmas.)
But the Christmas cheer doesn’t stop there! Fort Madison is packed with festive fun all week long. Join the Downtown Cookie Crawl and Open House, bring the family to the Kids Christmas Craft Market at Swed & Co, visit Santa and the Mean One at Appleberry Orchard, and don’t miss the rescheduled Mistletoe on Main celebration. More details on all local holiday happenings can be found at visitfortmadison.com/events. Come celebrate the magic of the season with us!
