Holy Trinity senior Mary Kate Bendlage added another All-State honor on Tuesday, after she was named to the Class 1A third team by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
Bendlage, a 1A third-team selection by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association on Monday, averaged 20.9 points, which ranked 15th overall in Iowa and third among players in Class 1A after last week’s state tournament. Bendlage also averaged 8.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and three steals per game.
It was the latest postseason award for Bendlage, who finished her career as Holy Trinity’s all-time leading scorer. Bendlage, the SEI Superconference South Division’s Player of the Year, was an earlier All-Southeast District selection by the IGCA, and was a member of the organization’s all-academic team along with teammate Natalie Randolph.
The Class 1A All-State first team consisted of Macy Boge and Kamryn Kurt of North Linn, Abbie Capesius of Bishop Garrigan, Rowan Jacobi of Springville, Kierra Jungers and McKenna Sievers of Newell-Fonda and Whitney Jensen of Remsen St. Mary’s.
Solon’s Callie Levin, who has signed with Iowa, was named Miss Iowa Basketball by the IPSWA.
