Ruby Jean Brent Dravis, 79, of Burlington, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She closed her eyes for the last time knowing she was loved. Ruby left behind a legacy of laughter, mischief and beautifully broken rules.
Born September 11, 1947, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ralph David and Ruby Irene Pendry Brent.
Ruby attended Stronghurst High School and later was very proud to have earned an Associates Degree from Southeastern Community College.
Throughout the years, Ruby held several positions at G.E., where she dedicated much of her working life before retiring as an inspector. She also worked at Target and generously gave her time volunteering at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
In her free time, Ruby loved her animals, shopping, and crocheting. She spent countless hours gardening and tending to her flowers and plants, but nothing meant more to Ruby than her family. She deeply treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandson, never missing their events and always creating lifelong memories together. Ruby also loved traveling with her sisters, sharing many adventures and special moments by their side.
Survivors include her children, Dawn Harris of South Amana, Dane (Jennifer) Dravis of Denmark, and Dena (Chad) Palmer of Burlington; six grandchildren, Donnie (Andrea), Daytin, Delayni (Tanner), Daniel, Drew, and Macklyn; one great-grandchild, Waylen; five sisters, Katherine Cline of Burlington, Helen (Roger) Steffensmeier of Ft. Madison, Diana (Richard) Williams of Ft. Worth, TX, Phyllis (Duane) Robb of Mt. Vernon, IL, and
Janet (John) Morris of St. Charles, MO; two brothers, James (Cindy) Brent of Reno, NV and Robert Brent of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Vivian Wallace, Carol Ertz and brother, Ralph "Buck" Brent.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Monday, October 26, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.
The funeral service for Ruby Dravis will be 2:00 PM Monday, October 26, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for PAWS Animal Shelter.
