Wayne L. McClain, 87, died suddenly Wednesday morning May 24, 2023, at his home in Keokuk, IA.

He was born December 20, 1935, in Crystal City, MO to Roy L. and Myrtel Ann McClain. He moved to Keokuk, IA in 1947 and later graduated from Keokuk High School.  He was united in marriage with Suzanne Moander on October 7, 1961, for 36 years.

Wayne shot on the Fort Leonard Wood Pistol Team for two years.  He worked construction for 5 years, Horner Box Company for 10 years, and Union Electric Company for 34 years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, water skiing, and skydiving with his daughter Julie.  He loved following his daughters and grandchildren in sports and activities and spending time with his grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by one daughter, Janan Meyers (Glen); one son-in-law, Robert Martin (Jody); five grandchildren: Lukas Meyers, Matt Meyers (Bethany), Mollie Martin Vandenberg (Elliott), Jordan Martin (Megan) and Kayde Martin; three great grandchildren: Lettie, Russ, and Huck; and his special friend, Karole Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne McClain, daughter Julie McClain Martin, and sister, Arlene McClain of St. Louis, MO.

Wayne will be remembered most by his quick wit, intriguing stories, and his ability to fix anything with super glue.  He was incredibly proud of his two daughters and all of his grandchildren. He was loved and will be missed by many.

All friends and family are welcome to join the graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 30 at the Scandinavian Cemetery in rural Montrose, IA.
