WEST BURLINGTON - Family Nurse Practitioner Dawn Weir has joined the medical staff at Family Medicine-Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Agency clinic in West Burlington.
Weir is no stranger to healthcare or Great River Health. Before going back to school for her master’s degree, she worked as a registered nurse in various departments of the health system. During her time as a registered nurse, she was instrumental in the creation of the Cardiac Care Unit and the Phase 1 Cardiac Rehab program on the West Burlington campus. Her most recent position was with Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice, where she cared for patients at their most vulnerable times.
“Nursing is just part of who I am. I love taking care of people,” expressed Weir on why she chose healthcare as a career.
Weir received her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Herzing University. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine. As a primary care provider, Weir will see patients of all ages, providing preventative care, education, and management of health conditions.
“Family Medicine is very close to my heart as it allows me to take care of patients throughout their lifespan. Preventative medicine plays a big role in a person’s good health.  I tell my patients that being proactive rather than reactive helps them to achieve their health goals,” Weir explained.
When not at work, Weir enjoys spending time with her family, going fishing, and traveling.
Dawn Weir is accepting new patients at the Family Medicine-Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Agency.  You can schedule an appointment with her by calling 319.754.4242.
