Wischmeier joins YMCA Test Kitchen as culinary director

FORT MADISON — The YMCA Test Kitchen is thrilled to announce the homecoming of Kaleb Wischmeier as its Culinary Director, effective September 1, 2023.
|Kaleb Wischmeier's journey has come full circle as he returns to Fort Madison, where he graduated from Fort Madison High School in 2016. After high school, he pursued his passion for culinary arts, earning his culinary degree from Indian Hills Community College in 2018. Kaleb then embarked on a journey that took him to Kirksville, Missouri, where he honed his skills in various culinary roles. He spent two years at Truman State University, contributing to the campus bakery's success, and later served as Assistant Kitchen Manager at Hy-Vee for a year.
In 2020, Kaleb made a significant move to Nashville, Tennessee, where he became deeply involved in the nonprofit sector in the Nashville Metropolitan Area. His commitment to giving back to the community was evident as he joined Patchwork, a nonprofit organization that feeds over 2,000 individuals per week experiencing homelessness. His dedication to making a positive impact on people's lives through culinary arts has been a driving force throughout his career.
The YMCA Test Kitchen, known for its unwavering dedication to serving youth in the community, has found the perfect fit in Kaleb. This nonprofit organization is on a mission to empower and nourish the youth of Fort Madison, ensuring they have the tools and resources to thrive in life. With Kaleb's impressive credentials and passion for culinary arts, the Test Kitchen is poised to reach new heights in achieving its noble objectives.
The decision to return to his roots and contribute to the community that shaped him is a choice that resonates deeply with Kaleb.
"Fort Madison has always been close to my heart, and I am truly honored to have this opportunity to give back. I want to inspire the youth here, just as this community inspired me when I was growing up," Wischmeier said
