Fort Madison Community School District Superintendent Erin Slater has offered an olive branch of sorts to the 19 seniors who are currently banned from participating in the Fort Madison High School graduation ceremony on Saturday.
According to a post on the district's Facebook page signed by Slater at around 4:00 p.m. today, a mandatory meeting was held on Thursday for students and parents with district officials where students were offered the opportunity to work within the district in exchange for the right to walk at the graduation ceremony.
The amount of work - hours or days - was not specified in the post which can be seen below in its entirety.
Pen City Current will have more on this news update as more information becomes available.
