FORT MADISON – The IGHSAU 2025 volleyball brackets were released Thursday afternoon.
No. 2-ranked Holy Trinity gets the bye in Class 1A Region 2 action and will host games up to the regional finals, which are at neutral locations in Class 1A and 2A.
The top half of the Region 2 1A bracket has the Crusaders with the top seed and the only bye in the region. On Wed., Oct. 22, they will host the winner of the Monday, Oct. 20 match between Winfield-Mt. Union (14-10) and Pekin (11-14).
Others in the top half of the bracket are Burlington Notre Dame (27-6) vs. WACO (6-15) at Notre Dame and Wapello (19-7) vs. New London (1-18) in Wapello. The winner of that match will face off against the winner of the Nikes and WACO on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Notre Dame.
The bottom half of the Crusaders’ bracket has No. 15 Dunkerton (17-10) vs. Clayton Ridge in Dunkerton; Turkey Valley (12-14) vs. Central Elkader (13-18) at Turkey Valley; Edgewood-Colesburg (16-15) vs Kee High (0-28) at E-C; and Starmont (10-9) vs West Central (4-17) at Starmont. The quarters there will be played at Dunkerton and E-C on Oct. 22, and the semis at Dunkerton. All games start at 7 p.m.
In the Class 4A, Region 6 bracket, Fort Madison’s Lady Hounds (11-13) will again face Burlington (23-9) in the opening round Tuesday, Oct. 21. The winner will travel to North Scott to face the 6th-ranked Lady Lancers in the semifinals. On the bottom half, Independence (15-16) will take on Decorah (10-10) with the winner advancing to take on 12th-ranked Western Dubuque. The finals there will be played at the home of the team with the highest final IGHSAU ranking.
Region 2 Class 3A has Central Lee (11-11) taking on (14-13) Mediapolis on Tuesday, Oct. 21 with the winner traveling to Davenport Assumption on the following Thursday, Oct. 23 to face the winner of Assumption (21-6) and Camanche (6-13). The team with the highest ranking in the final IGHSAU rankings of the season will host the regional final on Oct. 28.
The bottom half of the district pits No. 13 Wilton (23-5) against Maquoketa (5-11) at Wilton, and Dubuque Wahlert (13-15) against Monticello (8-20) in Dubuque. The semis will be played in Wilton.
