FM holds momentum coming out of break

Hounds hand Washington first conference loss

WASHINGTON – The Fort Madison boys basketball team held some momentum after the holiday break knocking off Washington 68-49 Friday night on the road.
The win hands the Demons their first Southeast Conference loss of the year, while Fort Madison improves to 2-1 after defeating Burlington prior to the holiday break.
The Hounds stand at 3-2 overall and take on Williamsburg again on the road today in a 1 p.m. affair.

Nolan Guzman and Julian Dear tied for team-high honors with 19 points each. Kenden Bowie had 16 including a couple first-half 3-pointers. Dear had just three points heading into the second half and then scored from inside, outside and at the free throw line for 16 in the second half.
Fort Madison deployed some of their best defense of the year holding Washington to just six first quarter points and 15 for the half.
Washington was led by Seth Shepherd and Logan McDole with 13 points apiece.
