Fort Madison Police Report
09/30/22 – 7:52 a.m. – Fort Madison police arrested Amber Rae Grooms, 38, of Wever, at the intersection of 48th Street and Avenue O, on a warrant for 5th degree theft. She was taken to Lee County Jail.
09/30/22 – 8:56 a.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of larceny/theft in the 2000 block of Avenue D.
09/30/22 – 10:56 p.m. – Fort Madison police arrested Debra Colleen Smithhart, 49, of Fort Madison, in the 1100 block of 31st Street, on 2 charges of possession of a controlled substance, and charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. She was taken to Lee County Jail.
10/01/22 – 9:17 a.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of vandalism in the 1900 block of Avenue E.
10/01/22 – 9:29 a.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of a property damage accident in the 1800 block of Avenue H.
10/01/22 – 12:45 p.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of vandalism in the 400 block of 23rd Street.
10/01/22 – 8:47 p.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of vandalism in the 700 block of Avenue G.
10/01/22 – 9:21 p.m. – Fort Madison police responded to a report of vandalism at the intersection of 36th Street and Avenue O.

Lee County Sheriff Report
09/30/22 – 7:20 a.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy. 103 and 290th Avenue. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Carol Anne Mahoney, 76, of Fort Madison, was traveling east on Hwy. 103 when it slowed to make a right turn onto 290th Avenue when it was struck by a vehicle driven by Stacy Lumbeck, 33, of Fort Madison. No injuries were reported, but both drivers complained of minor pain. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Lumbeck was cited for failure to maintain control.
09/30/22 – 10:18 a.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Jasen Scott Tripp, 46, of Keokuk, at the South Lee County Courthouse, on a warrant for violation of parole. He was taken to Lee County Jail.
09/30/22 – 1:06 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies cited Rhonda Lynn Helenthal, 56, of Keokuk, at the sheriff's office, on a charge of 1st offense OWI. She was released on a promise to appear.
09/30/22 – 5:22 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Crystal Ann Horn, 25, of Fort Madison, at the sheriff's office, on a judgment hold warrant. She was later released on serve weekends.
10/01/22 – 3:41 a.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Robert Charles Austen, 52, of Keokuk, at the sheriff's office, on a warrant for contempt - disobey tribunal court. He was taken to Lee County Jail and later released on bond.
10/01/22 – 10:27 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Anna Marie Tripp, 19, of Keokuk, in the 3400 block of 270th Street, on a charge of simple assault. She was taken to Lee County Jail and later released after paying a fine.
10/02/22 – 1:42 a.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Carlin Joe James, 29, of Fort Madison, on Avenue L, on a charge of public intoxication. He was taken to Lee County Jail and later released after paying a fine.
10/02/22 – 4:58 a.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Kimberly Ann Lyons, 44, of Keokuk, at the North Lee County Courthouse, on a warrant for failure to appear/contempt of court. She was taken to Lee County Jail and later released after paying a fine.
10/02/22 – 2:30 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Terra Dawn McPheter, 38, of Ottumwa, at the North Lee County Courthouse, on a warrant for failure to appear/contempt of court. She was taken to Lee County Jail.
10/02/22 – 7:56 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Brent Ian Kelly, 25, of Fort Madison, on Avenue G, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to Lee County Jail and later released on a pre-trial release.
10/02/22 – 9:47 p.m. – Lee County sheriff deputies arrested Cassie Elizabeth Lee Matlock, 24, of Fort Madison, on Avenue F, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to Lee County Jail and later released on a promise to appear.
