Former councilwoman endorses Mohrfeld for District 100

To the Editor:
I had the privilege of serving on the Fort Madison City Council while Matt Mohrfeld was our mayor, and I saw firsthand the kind of leader he is. Matt doesn't just talk about getting things done; he gets things done. He knows when to take command of a situation, get a discussion back on track and remind everyone why we are there—to do what is best for our community. Matt is not a "go along to get along" kind of guy. He will speak up, ask the hard questions, and stand his ground when it matters. I am proud of the progress we made during our time serving together, and I truly believe Fort Madison and Lee County are better because Matt chose to step up and serve.
Since announcing his run for the Iowa House, I have watched Matt bring that same determination to this campaign. He is out there everyday meeting people, listening and learning what matters to the people of Southeast Iowa. I have been involved in many community efforts and campaigns over the years, and I have never seen anyone work harder to earn the opportunity to represent us.
My support for Matt is personal. I don't have to wonder what kind of leader he will be because I have already had the opportunity to work beside him. I know his character, I know his work ethic, and most importantly, I trust him. I trust that when decisions are being made in Des Moines that affect our families and our communities, Southeast Iowa will be top of mind for Matt.

I was proud to serve with him then, I am proud to call him my friend today, and I am wholeheartedly proud to support Matt Mohrfeld for the Iowa House.
