WEST BURLINGTON – Senior Brayden Wyrick scored his 1,000th point as a Hawk, but Central Lee couldn’t keep up with the quick West Burlington Falcons as the Hawks fell 79-39 on the road Friday night.
The Falcons got a combined 44 points from Quincy Collins and Mason Watkins as they set the tone early that the Hawks would be in for a long night.
West Burlington opened a 22-7 first quarter lead and built that to a 38-18 halftime advantage.
Most of the Central Lee’s scoring came from Wyrick who had nine in the first half. Will Hayes added a couple buckets, but the Hawks couldn’t get the things going in the guard court with the quickness of West Burlington’s defense.
Wyrick finished with 15 to lead Central Lee. No other players were in double figures for the Hawks. Carson Morrison had five.
The Hawks fall to 2-3 in the SEI Superconference with the loss. They fall to 3-4 overall. West Burlington stays unbeaten atop the division at 7-0, 5-0.
Central Lee is off for the break and will open the new year on Jan. 3 at Mediapolis.
