Hounds land 10 on SEC All-conference squads

Six girls and four boys get post-season honors

FORT MADISON - Six Fort Madison High School softball players and four baseball players were honored on the Southeast Conference all-conference teams.
Brylie Lorence was a first-team selection in softball, while Kylie Lumino, Laci Gathers and Jordyn Marshall were second-team picks. Lucia Darnell and Emma Snaadt were honorable-mention selections.
Tateum Schelich was a first-team pick in baseball. Owen Huffman was a second-team selection and Reece Huey and Brody Cashman were on the honorable-mention list.
Lorence hit a team-best .477 with 14 home runs and 49 runs batted in. She had a 1.610 OPS.

Lumino batted .368 and drove in 20 runs. Gathers hit. 315 and drove in 16 runs. Marshall hit .417 and drove in 15 runs, while going 2-5 as a pitcher.
Darnell was 7-5 as a pitcher with a 3.52 earned run average. She batted .234. Snaadt hit .261 and drove in 11 runs, and was 4-5 as a pitcher. 
Schelich hit .359 and had 10 runs batted in. Huffman was 2-2 as a pitcher and batted .229. Huey was a .246 hitter and was 0-3 as a pitcher with a 2.43 earned run average. Cashman hit .274.
Schelich, Karson Dixon, Luke Hellige and Hunter Cook were academic all-conference picks in baseball, while Lorence, Gathers, Kaitlyn Sissel, Olivia Buckner, Ava Taylor and Taylor Huffman were academic all-conference picks in softball.
Washington’s Leighton Salazar was the softball player of the year. Fairfield’s Dain Burkhart was the baseball player of the year.
