Hounds land five on 1st-team wrestling squad

Warner, Fuller, Zimmerman, Smith, and Fenton all named to Southeast Conference team

FORT MADISON – Three Fort Madison Lady Hounds wrestlers were named first team All-Southeast Conference, while freshmen James Fuller and Aaron Warner were named 1st team on the boys' side.
The Fort Madison boys finished the conference season 4-1 and in second place behind Mt. Pleasant who went undefeated at 5-0. Washington’s Aaron Boone and Fairfield’s Cason Miller were named co-Wrestlers of the Year.
Fuller (120 lbs.) was the sole Bloodhound to advance to the IHSAA State Tournament for the boys. The Hounds had five other wrestlers lose 3rd place matches that would have qualified them at the district tournament.
Logan Pennock (132), Noah Swigart (138), Rainer Johnson (150), Gavin Callahan (175), and Ren Watson (190) were all named 2nd-team all-conference.
On the girls' side, Lucille Zimmerman (100), Briena Fenton (125 lbs.), and Mara Smith (135 lbs.) were named 1st team all-conference. Smith, Fenton, and Kat Diprima (140 lbs.) all qualified for the IGHSAU state tournament.
Iris Arevalo (120 lbs.), DiPrima, Tatum Peters (155 lbs.), and Mady Emmett were all named to the girls' 2nd-team all-conference.
Keokuk’s Jalyiah Gardner was wrestler of the year.
Emmett, McKayla Schinstock, Peters, and Smith all earned academic all-conference for the girls.
For the boys, Jake Haessig, Callahan, Nicholas Carle, Calvin Johnson, Hadley Johnson, Tateum Schelich, Swigart, and Warner all earned academic all-conference status.
