BURLINGTON – The Fort Madison Bloodhounds knocked off Burlington 54-28 on the road Tuesday night at Carl Johannsen Gym. The win appears to have given the Bloodhounds the Southeast Iowa Conference championship in tiebreaker determined by dual wins.
The Bloodhounds took advantage of three middle weight forfeits and four others while getting pins from Zane Houtz at 113, and Ren Watson (215).
Fort Madison’s Clifford Stewart battled No. 6 Adrian Perez-Hall for three periods but ending up falling 19-9 in a major decision. Moses Thacher made an appearance at 190 lbs. and lost to Owen Difederico just before the whistle at the end of the first round. Brody Bolander took down Oliver Schelich at 126 lbs by fall and Roy Brown pinned Fort Madison’s Easton Richers at 138.
Houtz got the Grayhounds Gavin Navarre halfway through the first period and Watson’s pin over Xavier Ross was also in the first period.
The Hounds will travel to Centerville for Class 2A District wrestling on Feb. 14 beginning at 10 a.m.
