Central Lee downs Clopton (Mo.) in Rumble
QUINCY – The Central Lee Hawks got a look at a different type of team, facilities, and basketball Thursday night when they rolled Clopton, Mo. 52-38 in the Rumble on the River at John Wood Community College in Quincy.
Carson Morrison certainly liked the different look as the junior guard hit six 3-pointers to lead Central Lee with a career high 28 points. No other player was in double figures in scoring for the Hawks.
Morrison hit all six of his long-balls in the first half as Central Lee opened up a strong 42-20 lead at the end of the first half. Clopton held Central Lee to just ten points in the final 16 minutes of play, but the first-half advantage was too much to overcome for the Clopton Hawks.
Owen Swan and Carver Hayes each had five points in the win. The Hawks (4-1, 3-1 SEI Super Conference) host West Burlington (4-2, 3-2) tonight, and then are off through the holiday break. They resume play on Jan. 2 when they host Mediapolis.
