HTC, Central Lee boys open post-season at home

Hawks seeded No. 2 in 2A District 9, Crusaders No. 3 in 1A-9

LEE COUNTY - Holy Trinity and Central Lee will open the boys basketball district tournaments at home this season.
District and substate pairings for Class 1A and 2A were released on Monday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Central Lee is the No. 2 seed in Class 2A District 9. Holy Trinity is the No. 3 seed in Class 1A District 9.
A look at each team’s brackets:
CLASS 1A
Holy Trinity will play host to sixth seed WACO in a 7 p.m. district quarterfinal on February 16. It’s a rematch of the December 8 game at WACO, won by Holy Trinity 69-54.
The winner of that game will play either No. 2 seed Pekin or No. 7 seed Seymour on February 19 in the district semifinal.
The other side of the bracket has top seed and No. 3 ranked Notre Dame playing host to the winner of the February 13 game between eighth seed New London and ninth seed Highland in a February 16 quarterfinal. Fourth seed Winfield-Mount Union will play host to fifth seed Danville in the other quarterfinal.

The district final is set for February 24.
The District 10 bracket of Substate 5 features top seed Calamus-Wheatland and No. 2 seed Hillcrest Academy. Wapello is a No. 7 seed and Lone Tree the No. 8 seed in that bracket.
The substate final will be February 28.
CLASS 2A
Central Lee gets a bye into the district semifinals. The Hawks will play host to either third seed West Burlington or sixth seed Cardinal on February 19.
Third-ranked Iowa City Regina is the top seed in the district. Regina will play either fourth seed Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont or fifth seed Van Buren County in the semifinals.
The district final is set for February 24.
The District 10 bracket of Substate 5 has No. 4 seed Durant playing No. 5 seed Columbus in the quarterfinals, with the winner playing at No. 1 seed Northeast in the semifinals. No. 3 seed Mediapolis will play host to No. 6 seed Louisa-Muscatine, with the winner going to No. 2 seed Mid-Prairie.
The substate final will be February 28.
