PEKIN – Holy Trinity Catholic won its fifth game in a row in big fashion with an 18-1 win over Pekin Monday night on the road.
The Crusaders got two homeruns from Sydney Jarvis and the sophomore went 4-for-4 at the plate driving in eight runs for HTC (8-3).
The win comes after three straight wins over Van Buren 7-5, WACO 15-2, and Mt. Pleasant 8-2 all over the weekend.
On Monday, the Crusaders led 3-0 after two innings before putting up a nine-run third and six-run fourth to end the game with the 15-run mercy rule.
Jarvis earned the win going four innings allowing just two hits and an earned run while fanning nine and walking just one. Ellie Hellman went 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Kenna Gittings scored four runs for Holy Trinity.
Jarvis is hitting .629 on the year with 21 RBIs and 25 hits, both tops on the Crusader’s squad.

Central Lee rebounds from Saturday loss
DONNELLSON – A five-run fifth inning was more than enough for the Lady Hawks to take an 8-0 win over Columbus in a make-up of an earlier rain out in SEI Super Conference softball Monday night.
The win comes after the Lady Hawks dropped a 6-4 loss to Fort Madison Saturday morning. Hayden Rule took the loss giving up six runs, five earned on eight hits, while striking out five and walking three. Fort Madison scored five runs in the first four innings for a 5-2 lead, but Central Lee would fight back with a run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to trail by one 5-4.
Fort Madison put up another run in the top of the sixth and Lucia Darnell was able to shut the Hawks down in the final two innings to get the win.
On Monday, Jalyn Hawk got the win in the shutout, allowing just two hits and one walk on the night. She also had a hit and two RBIs. Marie Young and Aubree Bunnell also had two RBIs each in the win.
The Hawks move to 9-2 on the year and host New London-WMU on Tuesday night in a Superconference matchup.

BURLINGTON – The Fort Madison Lady Hounds won the first game of a double header Monday night in Burlington 7-5 before falling in the second game 6-2 for the split.
Jordyn Marshall earned the win for Fort Madison giving up 11 hits and five runs, four earned, while fanning four, and not walking a Grayhound.
A two-run sixth inning proved to be the difference in the opener. The Hounds got both runs with two outs on singles by Marshall and Brylie Lorence for a 7-4 lead. Burlington would score a run in the bottom half of the sixth with two outs, but Marshal would work a strikeout to end the threat and would hold the Grayhounds scoreless in the seventh.
Marshall had two hits and two RBIs in the win. Lorence also had two RBIs.
In the nightcap, the Grayhounds opened up a 3-0 lead through three innings. Fort Madison would score two runs in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Emma Snaadt and Olivia Buckner’s RBI double to right.
But Burlington would answer with two in the bottom half and another insurance run in the bottom of the fifth, while freshman Ava Brandenburg shut down Fort Madison over the final two innings.
Darnell suffered the loss, surrendering all six runs on five hits, while striking out three and walking two. The Lady Hounds (5-5) travel to Washington on Thursday.

Central Lee boys roll Winfield-Mt. Union
WINFIELD – Blake Davis drove in four runs as the Hawks downed W-MU 11-3 Monday night in a SEI Superconference baseball game.
The Hawks trailed 2-1 after three innings, but erupted for five runs in the fourth and fifth where Davis had two RBI doubles in each inning.
Gage Van Ausdall got the win going four innings, surrendering two earned runs, and striking out eight. Van Ausdall also had three hits on the night. Chase Johnson had two hits, an RBI, and scored a run for the Hawks (6-2).
Central Lee is coming off an 8-7 walk-off win Saturday over Fort Madison and a 10-3 win over West Burlington on Friday night.
On Saturday, the Hawks trailed 6-4 going into the bottom of the fifth where they put up three runs to take a 7-6 lead. Hunter Edlin hit a two-run single with two outs to tie the game at six before Johnson singled scoring Kegan Damico from second base to take the lead.
Fort Madison would score in the top of the sixth when Owen Huffman singled in Luke Hellige with two outs. Tateum Schelich would sit the Hawks down with two on in the bottom of the sixth, and Caedon Newton would return the favor in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom half, Kayden Calfee walked and would steal second. Edlin would move him over with a bunt, and Calfee would come around to score on a passed ball for the win. The boys host New London Tuesday night with a junior varsity/varsity double header starting at 5:30 p.m.
