D. Wayne DeMint, 96, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 4:16 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Birkwood Village, Fort Madison. He was born on September 7, 1928 in Richmond, MO to Price Otis & Gladys Evelyn Koontz DeMint. He married Bonita Louise Reichelt on September 11, 1954 in Fort Madison, IA. She preceded him in death on November 18, 2012. After high school, he worked at DuPont in Fort Madison for a short time and then went into the U.S. Air Force for 3 years and then returned to DuPont as a Chemist, until he retired after 46 years of service. After he retired, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 10 years or more. He was very knowledgeable with computers and volunteered helping people with their computers.
Wayne is survived by: 2-daughters: Valerie DeMint of Fort Madison, IA & Diane (Rex) Bird of Fort Madison, IA; 2-sons: Paul (Amy) DeMint of Kingston, TN & Don (Marcy) DeMint of Basco, IL; 5-grandchildren: Chad Piper, Travis (Danielle) DeMint, Shelby DeMint, Alia & James DeMint; 3-great grandchildren: Jeffery Piper, Justin DeMint & Jaxon DeMint; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, wife & 2-sisters: Marjorie Ziskovsky & Betty Sue Strunk.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jim Lange officiating. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery.
