Lola May Boon, 86, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 3:25 PM at Parkview Village in Wellman, IA. She was born on September 12, 1938 in Ft. Madison to Earl C. and Lola V. Perry Boon. Lola graduated from Ft. Madison High School and was remembered by her classmates for her lovely singing and accompanying herself on the guitar or accordion. Lola enjoyed painting, embroidery and other handcrafts. She was interested in history and other cultures, particularly Japan where she had a pen pal. She was a member of Santa Fe Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and helped with Sunday School. Lola had a kind heart and a sense of humor. Wherever she lived she found friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Parkview Village for their care and compassion. They would also like to express their appreciation for the many people who showed their kindness and understanding to Lola in her lifelong struggle with mental illness.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and Robert Earl.
Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The burial of her cremains will be on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, IA.
