WAPELLO – The Central Lee girls' track team brought home some hardware and set more PRs at the Arrow Relays in Wapello.
Aubrey Weber continued her strong season with the discus, winning 1st place with a throw of 99’5”. She also won the shotput with a personal best 38’8”.
Kylie Fortune raced to a second-place finish in the 100 with 14:35. The Lady Hawks' Macy Anderson was second in both the 3000 (12:44.89) and 1500 (5:53.40), while the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Julia Fraise, Kamryn Cox, Ava Washburn, and Allison Gruntmeir raced to second with a time of 1:19.66.
Gruntmeir was third in the high jump at 4’8” and Cox was 3rd in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:16.75.
FM boys shut out Fairfield
FORT MADISON – The Fort Madison boys shut out Fairfield 4-0 in Fairfield on two goals from Henry Graham. The senior opened the scoring in the first half with an unassisted goal, the only one of the first half.
Graham had another goal off an assist from Jacob Shottenkirk to wrap up the scoring about halfway through the second half. Connor Horn and Hunter Wiegand had the other two goals for the Bloodhounds. Keelynd Ross had two saves in earning the shutout.
The Junior varsity tied at 3-3.
The Hounds stand at 5-5-1 on the year, 4-1 in the Southeast Conference and host Burlington Monday night.
Central Lee suffers two losses at Mepo
MEDIAPOLIS – The Bulldogs handed Central Lee just their second loss of the season Friday night.
The Bulldogs scored a goal at 24:22 of the first half to open the scoring. Neither team scored again in the first half, but Mediapolis put up two more in the second half at the 34-minute mark and the 16-minute mark to set the final score and knock the Hawks to 5-2 in SEI Super Conference play. Keeper Max Jones had four saves in the loss. The boys are off until Thursday when they travel to Albia.
The Lady Hawks were also shutout at Mepo. The Bulldogs scored five in the first half and one more in the second to get the win. The Lady Hawks are 2-8-1 on the season and 0-3 in conference play.
