WEST BURLINGTON – The Central Lee Lady Hawks took five games from host West Burlington Thursday night.
Despite trailing 2 of the first three sets, Central Lee rallied to win the final set and then won the tiebreaker 15-13 for an 18-25, 25-21, 24-26, 25-13, 15-13 win in Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball action.
"We started out a little slow tonight, but the girls really battled and finished strong with a lot of emotion," said Head Coach Amy Cook.
"Kenna Sandoval was locked in and brought great energy for us, which then filtered at the end through the entire team.  Taylor Jones delivered some hard hits, and Chloee Haigh was more aggressive tonight at the net. Our blocking was much improved, which made a big difference. I’m proud of how the team stayed composed and fought through all five sets to earn the win.
Kenna Sandoval had 43 assists, 15 digs, eight kills, two blocks, and a couple aces to lead the Lady Hawks. Taylor Jones had 16 kills and 19 digs, Jayden Mueller had 36 digs and Brylee Cook and Chloe Haigh each had 10 kills for the Hawks.
Macie Doty had 20 digs.
Central Lee (2-3, 10-11) plays at Danville Tuesday.
