Lady Hounds fall in SEC opener

Fort Madison goes 3-2 on Saturday in Quincy

FAIRFIELD — Fort Madison High School’s volleyball team lost its Southeast Conference opener on Tuesday, falling at Fairfield 25-21, 19-25, 25-9, 25-11.
Kenzie Huebner led the Bloodhounds, serving 14 of 14 with three aces while adding nine digs. Kylie Lumino had 10 digs. Dayonna Davis and Jaycee Fullenkamp each had six kills. Sydney McEntee added three kills.
The girls also played in the Quincy Early Bird Tournament on Saturday. The team got 3rd in pool play - beating Winchester 2-0, then falling to East St. Louis 1-2, and Quincy 0-2.

The Hounds then bounced back and went undefeated in bracket play - beating Pleasant Hill 2-0 and Payson 2-0 to finish 1st in the Consolation bracket.
"Overall, I'm happy to finish the day with a winning record 3-2. The girls continue to grow not only in their skills but also in their ability to work together, support one another, and find ways to overcome adversity," said Head Coach Kelly Knustrom.
"Their effort and teamwork reflect the strong culture being built within the program."
